Made for the body. Built for the experience.
The Owned Riding Harness is Royal Star Leather’s flagship riding and control harness, designed around the forces created when a piece is actually gripped, pulled, positioned, and worn.
Rather than treating the handles and hardware as decoration attached to a flat leather shell, the harness is built as a layered structure. Reinforcement, body geometry, strap width, wearer contact, and attachment placement are considered together so the piece can remain substantial without concentrating unnecessary pressure on the wearer.
Functional riding handles
The harness includes two RSL-designed riding handles in different orientations: one horizontal and one vertical.
Both handles are formed into substantial, usable grips and integrated into the structural back assembly so force applied through the handles is transferred into the larger harness rather than being carried by a small decorative attachment point.
The different handle orientations provide multiple grip and control options without requiring the wearer to be approached from only one direction.
Structured around the wearer
The full back panel incorporates a structural leather core beneath the exterior shell. This gives the harness enough body to resist excessive rolling, curling, and twisting while helping distribute force across a larger area.
The assembly is shaped during construction rather than treated as a completely flat panel, allowing the finished harness to better follow the body.
Where connecting straps contact the wearer, they widen beyond the narrow sections required to pass through hardware. Those broader contact areas help spread pressure rather than allowing a narrow strap to carry the entire load.
Soft where it touches
Structural leather belongs inside the piece. Soft leather belongs against the wearer.
The harness uses a soft leather lining on wearer-contact surfaces, with hardware positioned away from direct skin contact wherever practical. Exposed edges are finished and smoothed before the piece leaves the shop.
Comfort is not treated as something added after the engineering is complete. It is part of the engineering.
Hardware with a job to do
The Owned Riding Harness uses substantial hardware throughout, including major O-ring connection points and rear D-rings for restraint attachment and integration with compatible gear.
Hardware placement is determined by function, body position, and how force moves through the harness—not by where a ring happens to look good.
Made to Order
Each Owned Riding Harness is built after your order is placed.
Available exterior leather, lining, hardware finish, thread, and other standard options are selected during ordering. Because your harness does not exist until it is made for you, production time applies before shipment.
Use the Sizing & Measuring guide and the measurement requirements provided with this product when submitting your order.

Important use limitation
The standard Owned Riding Harness is designed for riding, control, restraint attachment, positioning, pulling, and repositioning within its intended use.
It is not sold or rated as a human-suspension harness and should not be used to suspend a person’s full body weight.
Care
After use, wipe away sweat and moisture and allow the harness to dry naturally before storage. Care requirements vary by selected leather, so follow the guidance on the Product Care page for the materials used in your piece.
Custom requests
If you need structural changes, non-standard attachment placement, unusual geometry, or another modification outside the options shown on this product page, use Custom Work rather than placing a standard configured order.
